“The ID program gives a great comprehensive overview of global infectious disease concerns while teaching traditional epidemiological and transmission modeling methods used to study infectious disease dynamics.”

Infectious Disease Epidemiology at HSPH
Education and research on aspects of infectious disease occur in a number of HSPH departments, including:
These departments participate in the interdisciplinary concentration in the epidemiology of infectious disease, which provides students with the capacity to monitor, prevent, and suppress diverse emerging infectious diseases, while pursuing a variety of biomedical career options in both the public and private sectors. This goal is achieved through a combination of coursework and research opportunities.
Interdisciplinary Concentration in ID Epidemiology (School-wide)
The interdisciplinary concentration in the epidemiology of infectious disease focuses on population studies incorporating both epidemiologic and laboratory methods. This academic concentration is intended for degree-seeking students who desire careers in research and teaching in infectious disease. Coursework requirements combine training in general epidemiologic theory and methods with substantive emphasis on infectious diseases; students then acquire research experience through summer projects, seminars, working groups, and meetings.
Infectious Disease Epidemiology Area of Interest (Epidemiology Department)
For students in the Department of Epidemiology, Infectious Disease Epidemiology may be selected as one of the fourteen areas of research interest or tracks. Students choose elective courses in Infectious Disease Epidemiology and conduct thesis or dissertation research, toward fulfillment of their degree program requirements.
